Wolves Reserves 3 – 1 Aston Villa Reserves

Villa’s second string slipped off the pace at the top of the reserves league table in their fight for the title with the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal, who we smashed 10-1 earlier in the campaign. Villa were unable to hold onto a 1-0 half time lead in the away clash against their local rivals after Gary Gardner opened the scoring inside 20 minutes at the second attempt after his close range free-kick was saved. A Geoffrey Mujangi Bia brace saw Wolves overturn the result after Danny Batth had levelled with a header after the break. The game saw run-outs for current misfits Stephen Warnock and Habib Beye but the experienced full-backs were unable to prevent a defensive collapse in the second half.
