The following is Villa’s best starting XI based on the average player ratings from the 2010/11 season thus far. As you will see there have been some changes to the team, published at the mid-point of the season, following the recent signings of Kyle Walker, Jean Makoun and Darren Bent. All three of the newcomers to have played for Villa have had decent starts to their respective spells at Villa Park and go straight into the team. This is at the expense of the likes of Stewart Downing who is the most surprise absentee from my ratings who is only ranked as the 6th most consistent midfielder in the squad. James Collins and Richard Dunne are both regular starters for Gerard Houllier but rate below the in-and-out Cuellar and impressive youngster Ciaran Clark.
