Villa to Swap Walker for Hutton in Summer Move?

With Harry Redknapp adamant that Kyle Walker has a part to play at Tottenham next term, it has been suggested that Spurs’ current right backs Vedran Corluka and Alan Hutton could come under threat and Villa have now been linked to the latter. Having shone in his opening games during his loan spell at Villa, Walker earned a call-up to the England squad though mistakes in his last two game have led to pretty unjust criticism for the 20-year-old. The youngster is undoubtedly a real weapon going forward but his defensive game, like many full-backs nowadays, has been questioned. Villa are now thought to be looking at bringing in his team-mate Hutton, who has failed to nail down a place since an £8m move from Rangers in 2008. The 26-year-old Scotland international is out of contract next summer and is unlikely to be offered a new deal at White Hart Lane due to Walker’s progression. He fell down the pecking order shortly after signing for Spurs, but has recaptured some form this term, making 21 league appearances, scoring 2 and setting up 2. He was linked with a move to Sunderland last season, who remain keen, but has now been linked to Villa in a £5m move.
