In December last year Villa were linked to 21-year-old FC Basel attacking midfielder Valentin Stocker, who is seen by many as Swiss football’s hottest prospect, along with fellow target and teammate Xherdan Shaqiri. The youngster has already scored 3 times in just 8 appearances for his national side and has in turn caught the eye of many top European clubs. Villa and Liverpool are thought to be leading the chase in England, though German giant Bayern Munich may well pip the Premier League rivals to the post. In 20 league games this season, Stocker has netted 6 times and assisted a further 9 goals. In all competitions his record stands at 9 goals and 10 assists from 31 games from both a central or left sided advanced role. Having played a combined total of 2554 minutes at club level, he has a goal contribution rate of 1 every 134 minutes.
