Villa Player Ratings vs City

I was far from in the mood to write a match report last night after a Houllier horror show but here are my player ratings for the game. No-one was awful but no-one stood out so it’s not really impelling stuff!

Brad Friedel – 7 –  made some needed, if expected saves, couldn’t prevent goals

Chris Herd – 6 – decent enough debut considering he’s primarily a midfielder

Richard Dunne – 6 – did little wrong, plenty of touches alongside Clark at the back

Ciaran Clark – 6 – ditto to Dunne

Fabian Delph – 6 – again did well out of position but given no chance to impress

Michael Bradley – 5 – feels harsh to do but he wasn’t ready and lost the ball a fair bit

Stiliyan Petrov – 5 – did very little, impossible to far up a team that didn’t fancy it

Barry Bannan – 6 – possibly the best outfield player for Villa but not at his best

Nathan Delfouneso – 6 – worked hard to little effect

Gabby Agbonlahor – 5 – little effort, little outcome

Emile Heskey – 5 – rusty touch but had no chance

Subs

Ashley Young – brought on too late

Stewart Downing – brought on too late

Kyle Walker – brought on too late
