Villa Pinpoint £7m Rated Piatti as Partner to Bent

Aston Villa have reportedly joined a long list of suitors for 22-year-old Argentine Almeria striker Pablo Piatti, with Wigan also thought to be interested from the Premier League. The forward is believed to be keen on a move from the side who were smashed by Real Madrid 8-1 on the final day of the season and interest is high across the continent, with Athletico Madrid, Sevilla and Udinese all keen. The trio have all made bids for the player that have apparently not met his club’s £7m valuation and Villa are hoping to steal a march, though uncertainty over the future of Gerard Houllier may hamper proceedings.

The youngster was Almeria’s top scorer in the league last term, netting 8 in 35 appearances for the struggling La Liga outfit. In those matches he also assisted 4 goals and had a team high average of 2.1 shots per game. For an attacker he also had an impressive pass success rate of 76% and can also play in a less advanced attacking role.
