According to reports in Spain, Villa have made a pre-contract approach for 15-year-old Spanish prospect and Real Sociedad striker Unai Manso. He’s 15 and he’s in Spain, and I try not to track 15-year-olds for obvious reasons and hence have no idea who he is but it was reported in a local newspaper close to the club so it’s a pretty reputable rumour. The complications behind any deal come due to the fact that Manso cannot sign a professional contract until he is 16 under FIFA regulations, therefore Villa’s proposed offer of a four-year contract wouldn’t come into play until 2012 when he reaches that landmark. TalkSport report that Manso apparently visited Villa Park over Christmas for a five day trial and was so impressive that Gerard Houllier’s team have put together a contract in preparation for next year.
