Villa Linked with £8m Jarvis Swoop to Replace Young

A frankly unimaginative, but equally viable, link has seen Villa touted for an interest in Midlands rivals Wolves prized asset Matty Jarvis. The left winger has been tipped as a like for like replacement were Ashley Young to leave the club, though Houllier would be one of a long list of admirers including his former employers at Liverpool. The ex-Gillingham winger has impressed sufficiently this season to earn his first senior international call-up, coming on as a late sub in last month’s friendly with Ghana, fresh off the back of netting the winner in a 1-0 victory at Villa Park. The 24-year-old is valued at £8m, roughly half what the club may well receive in any transfer for Young, and will be looking to move on if Wolves were to be relegated, though with Villa in a similar position, all things will be left until the end of the season. In 34 appearances for Wolves in all competitions this term, Jarvis has netted 5 and assisted 8 goals to help his side keep strong hopes of survival this season. Jarvis’ goalscoring record against Villa is his best against any team in the league having scored twice in the 3 games he has played, both this season in the 2-1 defeat and 1-0 win aforementioned. Right price?Right player? Right replacement?
