Aston Villa are apparently 1 of 6 sides, including Fulham who almost bought the player before his long-term injury in the summer, interested in Bristol City’s young striker Nicky Maynard. Blackburn, Bolton, Newcastle and Celtic are the other side accredited with a liking for the 24-year-old, who has missed much of the season with knee injury but in his two starts upon his return, has netted as many goals. Maynard became Bristol’s record signing in 2008 when they spent a hefty fee of £2.25m at Championship level, real intent that this guy is one of the hottest prospects outside the Premier League. He was bought off the back of a Crewe record that was made more impressive but the sides coinciding plight. In his first season in the Championship he played 43 games, scoring a respectable if unspectacular 11 goals acclimatizing to the step up. However, last season he hit his stride and netted 20 times in 42 appearances to attract the eye of a number of Premier League clubs. Thoughts on this one guys?
