Quoted: Reo-Coker Agent Denies Rebuffing Villa

Nigel Reo-Coker’s agent Tony Finnigan has spoken to Sky Sports, denying that his client has already rejected an offer from the club, claiming that they are ‘respectfully waiting for the club to come back’ to them after talks broke down in December due to Villa’s perilous position as they fought the drop from the Premier League. Finnigan has done his job of trying to make out that his client is the best player in history and wanted by every club in the world but the truth is, at 26, the midfielder will be in high demand if Villa can’t secure his services after a much improved season from the former West Ham man. Teams in Italy are thought to be very keen whilst any interest from the Premier League has been put off until the end of the season when they will be able to approach the player by the laws of the game.

“To suggest that talks are ‘deadlocked’ is just ridiculous and plain wrong.

“The last set of talks we had with Villa was in December and at the time, rightly so, they stated that all contract talks would be put on hold until their Premier League status was confirmed.

“Now we are respectfully waiting for the club to come back to us, but there is no getting away from the fact Nigel is out-of-contract at the end of the season.

“If Nigel does leave Villa, then he would be the biggest English Bosman of the summer and at the age of just 26 would be one of the most in-demand ever.

“That is just the facts of where we are at the moment, but Nigel has enjoyed playing under Gerard Houllier – that is true so we are open minded about the situation.”
