Newcastle have joined a number of clubs monitoring Stephen Warnock’s situation at Aston Villa after the left-back’s spectacular demise to the reserve squad at Villa Park under Gerard Houllier. The former Liverpool and Blackburn defender has been linked with returns to both his previous clubs in the past and now Pardew’s Newcastle are thought to have joined the chasing pack which is likely to grow due to what will undoubtedly be a vastly reduced asking price. The Toon are thought to be looking to replace Jose Enrique, were he to leave to one of a number of big clubs in the race for the Spaniard and 29-year-old Warnock fills the mould. Just last summer the Villa man was travelling with the England squad to the World Cup in South Africa but a disappointing start to the season, couple with a disagreement with Houllier, who sold him whilst in charge at Liverpool, saw the full-back demoted to training with Villa’s second string. A source at Villa Park confirmed: “It’s pretty obvious that Stephen has no future at Villa while Gerard Houllier is here and it is now all about who comes in for him this summer.”
