McAllister to Run Run-in as General Admits Houllier Worries

As you are probably well aware by now Villa will be without manager Gerard Houllier for the remainder of the season with the club hoping that a prolonged break will serve the boss well in the long-term after he was taken to hospital with chest pains last week. Although reports suggest that the Frenchman is making decent progress in his recovery, the severity of Houllier’s health issues seem to be becoming more clear, leading to inevitable rumours that he will not return in a managerial role next season. In the meantime, assistant Gary McAllister, who oversaw the 1-1 draw with Stoke on Saturday, will be in charge for the remaining 4 games of the season after Randy’s right hand man, General Charles Krulak confirmed that the much maligned manager this term will be relieved of his duties for the rest of the current campaign. This has led to a flurry of speculation amongst Villa fans, with many implying that a director of football role may be favourable for Houllier, with a new manager coming in. I hope Houllier is fit to return next year as he has shown signs of the intent to change a somewhat stagnant side since January with impressive signings along the way. If not then my shout goes to a long-shot on Gus Poyet though whether you’d agree with that I don’t know! All the best to Gerard, get well soon.

“As you might know, he (Houllier) has suffered a problem that he has suffered before…at Liverpool.”

“It is serious…something that we have to be concerned about.

“Randy has been over to see him and everyone at the Club has been extending best wishes.

“I am afraid he will not be on the sidelines for the remainder of our games. The key is his health and that he recovers completely.”
