Houllier Targets Mbokani

Monaco striker Dieumerci Mbokani (pronounce that!) is reportedly a transfer target for a number of Premier League clubs, with Villa now having joined rivals West Brom and Everton in an interest. The 25-year-old made his name at Belgian side Standard Liege before making the switch to Monaco in the summer. Despite only just having joined the Ligue 1 side for 7m euros, the Congolese forward is already being linked with a January switch having struggled to make an impact in his short spell with the club. With Villa needing goals, an interest in a striker who has scored just 1 in 10 this season is hardly encouraging although the pacy striker has proved a threat in the UEFA Cup and Champions League against the likes of Liverpool and interested club Everton in past seasons. Mbokani earned a move after a disappointing season with Standard Liege failed to build on an impressive record in 2008/09. Last season the Congo striker scored 4 time in 20 league games, failing to repeat the form which saw him net 16 times in 29 games in the previous campaign and 15 in 32 the year before that. By the looks of it he is a player who has gone off the ball after an eye-catching start to his career in Belgium so would he be worth the risk of being to recapture this form or is it a worthless interest?
