Gerard Houllier has been linked to what would be the second signing of Swede Kim Kallstrom of his managerial career. The Villa boss took the midfielder to Lyon during his reign with the French giant and is reportedly keen to bring him to Villa Park as he looks to rebuild his midfield with many speculated to be leaving. The left footed central midfield man is veteran at international, picking up an impressive 79 caps at the age of 28, scoring 13 goals in the process. Having signed for Lyon in 2006, his current contract is in the same situation to that of Ashley Young’s, which may force the Ligue 1 club into a sale with a fee of around £6m being touted. So far this term Kallstrom has played 23 times in the league for Lyon, scoring 3 and setting up 5. He has been a regular for the side and played alongside Villa’s January signing Jean Makoun for much of his time at the club. In 207 games in total he has assisted 27 times, notching 20 goals, a total which he reached in just 86 games for his previous club Rennes.
