Houllier Joins Race for Johnson

Leeds winger Bradley Johnson is attracting the interest of a number of Premier League clubs as his contract expires at the end of the season. The 23-year old will have done his chances of a move to the top league no harm after scoring a spectacular long range effort in the 3-1 replay defeat to Arsenal in the week and he has apparently caught the eye of Gerard Houllier. This ones a no brainer in my opinion, make a bid! The young prospect has impressed since breaking into the starting team at Elland Road and is now rumoured to be available for just £500k due to his contract situation. What will entice the Villa manager further is the fact that Johnson can play at left-back having started his career in a defensive role and with Warnock seemingly on the way out, Johnson could signify a valuable squad player. He is bound to leave in the next couple of weeks after turning down a new contract at Leeds with the club not wanting to lose him on a free come the summer. Villa will have to fight off interest from the likes Wigan, Bolton, Stoke and Rangers but will no doubt look like an exciting prospect what with the latest going ons at the club. Johnson could well be a far cheaper alternative, although they play in different positions usually, to Charlie Adam with Blackpool loathed to losing their talisman. Johnson has played in a central role and represents a versatile addition to any squad. Good sub, could be more in my opinion, £500k is pennies for such a talent!
