Houllier Confident of Cisse Capture

Aston Villa manager Gerard Houllier is reportedly still in the race to sign fellow countryman Djibril Cisse and is confident that a deal can be struck with Panathinaikos to see the former Liverpool man paired with Darren Bent next season. The France international had a hit and miss time in the Premier League at Anfield, after joining just 2 months after Gerard Houllier left, and was often a controversial figure in his time at the club, not least because of some truly shocking hair ‘statements’. Many English fans will also remember the horror leg break that the striker, now 29, suffered against Blackburn. He later spent a spell at Sunderland on loan from Marseille before making a £7.4m switch to the Greek club. Having signed for the Reds in a mega money deal he has racked up around £35m of transfer fees in his career. This season he has been back to his lively best having scored 19 goals and picking up 9 assists in 33 appearances. His impressive goal contribution rate in his 2934 minutes of football, Cisse gets a goal/assist every 104.8 minutes.
