Personally, I hope this isn’t true but Villa are apparently interested in offering Manuel Almunia a route out of Arsenal. The Spanish keeper has fallen to third in the pecking order under Wenger, behind Sczezny and Flappyhandski at Arsenal and there is a reason for that. He can be brilliant on occasion, maybe 5 in his career, but he can also be awful and I’d rather see Friedel play on until he’s 75 than sign Almunia, for a fee Metro report to be in the region of £3m. This is merely a rumour and the out-of-favour former England wannabe is still thought to be set for a move back to Spain although he may well be keen on a second bite at the Premier League cherry after an eventful career in the division. If this is true, please see sense Houllier, Siegrist and Parish would do better!
