It has been revealed that new Villa signing Darren Bent will wear the number 39 shirt at Aston Villa until at least the end of the season. Many thought that if Carew or Ireland were sold, numbers 9 an 10 would be freed up for Darren Bent but it has been confirmed that squad numbers are not transferable during the season. It is widely expected that the number 3 will be dropped at the start of next season, with Bent wearing the traditional strikers number 9 shirt for the remaining four years of his contract.
