Wayne Bridge is set to snub a potential loan move to Aston Villa in favour of a temporary switch to bottom club West Ham. Bridge has fallen down they City pecking order and is keen to secure first team football, with the London club being his preferred destination. Any deal to either side would see the club loaning the full back play his reported £90,000 a week wages after the Eastlands club refused to subsidise a potential loan. Bridge’s decision looks to become the third successive interest from Gerard Houllier to get rejected after the Frenchman missed out on Roman Weidenfeller, staying with Dortmund, and seemingly long term interest Jean Makoun after being priced out in a move for the midfielder. Villa are lining up Blackpool captain Charlie Adam with a second bid after a formal offer was rejected by the newly promoted club. It is believed that Houllier will continue to look at left back options after Stephen Warnock no longer appears to be in his managers plans after some abject performances this season. Being rejected to join the club that have been bottom of the league for almost an entire season says a lot about Villa’s turn in fortunes but due to the player’s ridiculous wages I can’t help but feel this is a lucky escape for Villa. Thoughts?
