After the jubilation that most Villa fans felt at the expense of Birmingham yesterday was capped by a great result against Liverpool, Villa fans will have had heart in mouths around the country after being linked with Nicklas Bendtner!Luckily the Arsenal striker’s father has rubbished the reports to the relief of what I would imagine would be most of the Villa faithful to dampen speculation moving the not so Great Dane with a move to the club. Just to mention these are my opinions and I’m sure others will think otherwise but the majority of the Arsenal fans I know will be glad to see the back of him.
The big forward has been a controversial figure for the Gunners in recent years having reportedly fallen out with a number of teammates in the past. Add to that that he spent a loan spell at City not too long ago and I doubt he would be the most popular of summer signings to say the least. Though the 23-year-old can score some decent goals he is perhaps better known for missing more than his share of sitters and he is seemingly looking to move on from the Emirates in order to gain regular first team football.
His father, Thomas, has revealed to The Daily Mail;
“Nicklas is 100 per cent open now to a change of clubs. He has made his decision and he has told it to Arsenal.
“Nicklas needs to be playing from the start so, sadly, he must leave. He wanted to finish the season first, so no-one could say he didn’t fight for a first-team place right until the end.
“There is real interest from both English and German clubs, and Bayern Munich were after him, earlier. It’s very exciting. But talk about Aston Villa is rubbish. He has not met anyone from there.”
A very harsh analysis from myself I know but is anyone really keen?
