Bundesliga giant Bayern Munich are reportedly joining the growing list of supposed admirers of current Villa skipper Ashley Young. The 25-year-old has persisted in putting off contract talks over a deal which runs out next summer until the end of the current season, attracting the interest of the likes of Man Utd and Liverpool in the process. It now seems that the news is becoming common knowledge overseas with the German club sending a scout to the Bolton game, in which Young won and missed a penalty. This blunder has seemingly not put off Bayern who are set to enter a bidding war in the summer with a fee ranging from £12-20m being touted. Last year’s Champions League finalists have disappointed this term and manager Louis van Gaal’s job is apparently under threat having slipped well of the pace in the league due to the fantastic season at Borussia Dortmund. I wasn’t impressed with Young at the weekend, irregardless of the penalty miss and I’d say he is more replaceable than the likes of Barry and Milner but losing the playmaker would be a big loss to Villa and Houllier, who is reportedly lining up Lille’s Gervinho as a replacement.
