The 2024 summer transfer window is in full swing as Aston Villa have reportedly rejected a player-plus-cash offer from Tottenham Hotspur for Jacob Ramsey.
According to The Times, Spurs made a £20 million bid plus Giovani Lo Celso to secure a deal for Ramsey but Villa were not interested.
The Premier League outfit are said to value the 23-year-old at between £40m and £50m.
Ramsey is one of the finest talents to have emerged from the Lions’ youth academy. He made his competitive debut in 2019 against West Bromwich Albion and has since picked up over 120 senior appearances for the Midlands club.
The talented midfielder endured a difficult 2023-24 campaign as injury issues limited him to just eight Premier League starts.
However, he is still viewed as a key member of the first-team squad by manager Unai Emery.
Villa have alleviated their profit and sustainability (PSR) concerns with Douglas Luiz’s impending sale to Juventus.
It is said that they have agreed a £43 million fee for Luiz, with Samuel Iling-Junior and Enzo Barrenechea moving to the English club in a separate deal (per ESPN).
Meanwhile, Omari Kellyman is set to join Chelsea for £19m and Tim Iroegbunam has moved to Everton for £9m.
Therefore, Villa may not be under any pressure to sell more players to comply with the financial rules.
