Villa’s wing wizard and Player of the Year Marc Albrighton has been overlooked in the nominees for the PFA Young Player of the Year behind a strong line-up. However, the 21-year-old’s performances and stats show that he is easily deserving of a shout for the gong and in my opinion as a not at all biased Villa fan, is desperately unlucky. The favourites for the award will undoubtedly be the likes of Gareth Bale, Samir Nasri and Jack Wilshere which is perfectly understandable but the Villa man is unfortunate to be pipped by Joe Hart, Nani, Javier Hernandez and in particular, Seamus Coleman! I don’t mean to be disrespectful to the Everton player who has shown glimpses of brilliance this term and will undoubtedly shine at Goodison, but these high level performances have been infrequent compared to Albrighton, again in my unbiased opinion! To highlight our lad’s bad luck I have once again rifled through the stats!
