Villa 0-0 Fulham ***live blog*** FT
FT – The draw keeps us top four, at least until tomorrow, and Stoke have very kindly equalised so Hull remain 2 points below us. Now we are all Chelsea fans for a day. Come on you filthy Chelski’s!!
91 – MON is frustrated, he’ll be much more so when that whistle goes… and there it is. Very, very frustrating as Villa waste an abundance of chances and draw 0-0.
90 – Fulham threaten to steal it, 3 minutes added but Fulham have suddenly learnt how to keep hold of the ball.
89 – Villa corner to long. Then a cross straight to Schwarzer, there’s a theme here today.
Poor old Baggies have thrown away a lead, Wigan go 2-1 up.
87 – Sidwell heads over. It’s just getting silly now!
86 – Another Villa chance goes begging, Laursen’s header is halfway between an attempt and a flick-on, so goes straight to Schwarzer. As does Young’s cross soon after.
85 – Fulham attack but Davies skies it miles off target!
84 – Gera on for Zamora, I knew Fulham would try to defend a draw if things got tough.
83 – Dirty Pantsil foul on Young, that he has the audacity to argue about, but Young’s free-kick is disappointingly overhit. Time is running low.
81 – Nine minutes left and it’s getting nervy now, we surely can’t be happy with anything other than a win after thsi performance. We have had enough chances to easily be 5 up.
79 – Harewood is warming up, are we about to see a 4-4-2, it will help as we look light upfront, but we are attacking so much because we have more in the midfield.
78 – Barry has another great chance and again fails to make it count.
74 – It’s an American face-off, Dempsey has a great chance but it’s right at Friedel who stands strong.
71 – How are Villa not ahead, Barry does everything right but somehow between Schwarzer and the woodwork it is kept out.
67 – Barry has a chance but he is too close to Scwarzer, foul given.
66 – Agbon gets away but didn’t see Konchesky over his shoulder.
65 – Curtis Davies hasn’t had a lot to do, but what he has, he’s done well. The England World Cup hopes are really helping to pick up his game.
62 – Cuellar corner is gathered by Scwarzer, Villa are back to their dominating first-half style.
Stunning overhead kick by Camara brings Wigan level at home to West Brom.
60 – Strong Villa presure earns us two corners that were both close to goals
Someone get Roy Keane a paracetomol or two! They trail 4-1 Bolton,
57 – Was Cuellar a winger in a former life?!
54 – Cuellar is also continuing to impress, that man was a very shrewd buy by MON, much more games like this and the £8m will be a bargain!
52 – Young is still everywere and this cross finds Sidwell in a great scoring position but he can’t get hold of it.
51 – Corner to corner and on the second one Young strikes but it hits the ground and goes wide.
50 – Awesome ball from Young for Aggy to run onto, he takes a little to long waiting for support tho but gets a corner.
The Baggies make it 1-0 at Wigan, our neighbours desperately need points from their current run of games.
45 – Villa kick back off. Villa need to continue where they left off, but everyone knows how half-time can disturb your flow. A goal before the break is always priceless.
One other goal to inform you of and it’s bad news, right on the stroke of half-time Marlon King makes it 1-0 to Hull, it’s not enough to take them above us though unless we lose or they score another 8 without conceding! I wonder what odds you’d get on that happening.
HT – As I said in the preview, Fulham ahve put a lot of bodies behind the ball and their determination at the back has kept them in this game, because with the way Villa have dominated they should be a few goals up by now. At our back, Cuellar has been superb.
44 – Agbon is loose on the right hand flank but he gives Milner a poor pass and the attack is over, Cuellar clears up the counter excellently.
41 – Great save from Friedel to keep it goalless, Villa look like they’re going to waste 25 minutes of domination, in fact Zamora had a chance to shoot then but Cuellar pounces on his hesitation, great defending
They keep flooding in up in Sunderland, 3-1 Bolton
38 – Great feet from Milner and it earns us a free kick, floated over by Young and Sidwell really should’ve buried that! He heads over an open goal.
34 – Fulham corner, a goal for them would be thoroughly undeserved but we all know what a funny old game it can be. Danger over, stop panicking Villa fans.
33 – The Young’s combine and Luke puts in a great cross and it’s right there that we miss Carew and/or the 4-5-1 lacks bite. Agbon is both crowded out and not quite right place, right time.
It’s good to see Cuellar passed fit, he’s getting involved down the right flank, he may have found a new position here, he plays right-back like a natural.
28 – Fulham are defending strongly, how long can they sustain it though?
27 – Still Villa pressurise, a goal has to be coming
26 – Young is EVERYWHERE!
25 – Young corner fingertipped away by Schwarzer
23 – Great chance for Barry, but he heads narrowly wide. Villa follow it up with another chance. It looks like a goals coming.
Sunderland 1-1 Bolton – The only game with goals and it’s one to each side… oh, scratch that, it’s 2-1 to Bolton, great goal by former Villan Gary Cahill.
21 – still no goals, fairly well shared possession so far.
OK, so it’s not a full on liveblog, but I’ll be bringing you the main highlights and other scores too. Full live blogs coming soon.
