Micah Richards link, transfer talk and injury news
Sky Sports News are today claiming that Villa are looking into a bid for Micah Richards. It’s not on their website yet, but it’s on the Latest News round-up.
Richards stormed onto the scene at a very young age for a defender, getting into the Man City team and then the England team. He then got injured and was out for a while and, since his return, has failed to recapture the form that made him so successful. Whether his lack of good form is caused by the unrest at City or whether he has ‘lost it’ remains to be seen.
MON is reknowned for getting the best out of players and Richards is also a versatile defender who can play full back or centre back, so the deal makes logical sense. The sudden out-of-the-blue-ness of the rumour, however, makes me a little sceptical of there being any actual truth in it.
N’Somnia… Zogbia… Charlie… errr…. you know the guy I mean… Thingymajig
The N’Zogbia bid has yet to turn to anything, but you know how slow and hush-hush Villa can be, so don’t rule it out just yet.
The Frenchman has put the final nail in his Newcastle career as him and the manager have a public blow-out. Joe Kinnear mispronounced him name as ‘Insomnia’ in an interview and the Zog has lost a lot of sleep over it (d’ya like what I did there? When I heard him say it I thought “There’s got to be a Joke-in-here”!).
It was a ridiculous thing for Kinnear to say, he certainly seemed to say it on purpose and making public digs at a player in your squad is not a good way for a manager get team morale going when the chips are down. N’Zogbia has taken it all very personally and has publicly stated that he will never play under Kinnear again, asking Newcastle to accept one of the bids that are on the table for him.
The Telegraph claim he is going to Wigan in a brand new link and if we don’t want him, then Wigan wouldn’t be a bad choice for him. He’s touchy about his name though Bruce, so make sure you pronounce it right.
Onto injuries… finally some good news
Having just lost our captain for a good couple of months and NRC out for a couple of weeks, there is now some good news; Wilfred Bouma and John Carew have both played 45 minutes of football in a secret game against Derby County.
Carew has been out for a few months with a back injury and Bouma has been out since the start of the season with that horror injury sustained against Odense. Both players are still expected to miss the Wigan game, but they should return, along with Reo-Coker, for the Doncaster replay or the Blackburn game.
Martin Laursen’s knee troubles have him sidelined till April and have inspired him to retire from international football for Denmark. Laursen says it was a very difficult decision but, with the injury troubles he’s had, he chose to concentrate on Villa for the remainder of his career.

Would love us to sign Richards. He was amazing before he lost it and i’m sure MON could rekindle his footballing powers.
Word Up to Laursen, he is my hero.
Get Richards in!!!
Like Timmy said, “He was amazing before he lost it” and if anyone can get him back to his best its MON! He would be another one of those ideal signings for Villa, young and English so i wouldnt be surprised if MON was looking at him at the moment…..
UTV!!!
I’ll love richards at the villa. I think we should put in a joint bid with johnson and sturridge, as they all fit the o.neil mould, and there all quality. I think sturridge could be as gd as ashley young
