It’s all coming together rather nicely!!

I’ve had the chance to calm down after the fantastic efforts of the players in defeating Juventus in the Peace Cup final. Ok, we were fitter than them because we start our season in two weeks and they don’t start for another four. But, we gave as good as we got and looked the better side in the first half. We struggles in the second but always looked dangerous on the break during extra time. Full credit to the penalty takers for having the bottle to put their necks on the line. Credit too for MON and his staff for getting the best out of some of the younger players.

Having agreed a fee for Leeds youngster Fabian Delph today, we look to have a great many quality young players at this club who will get better and better. Albrighton should step straight up and looks ready. Bannan will also be there or there abouts. Guzan and Lichaj didn’t let themselves down at all. I would like to see some of them go out on loan for the season. The likes of Herd, Bannan, Lichaj should go out on loan to give them some first team experience. I’m sure that they’ll receive lots of interest from clubs in the Championship or League One. Be nice for Walsall to come in for them so they can stay local.

I agree with waiting until we come back from Spain before the club starts to buy players. They had a tight knit group in Malaga and often, a couple of new faces can upset the great banter that they would have been experiencing. That said, now MON is back at his desk, I would expect two or three to come in very quickly this week with the likes of Delph, Beye and Distan being finalised. I would also like to see a quality signing such as Wesley Sneijder or Joe Cole come in too. Really set the club alight after raising their profile with the Peace Cup win.

It’s getting exciting. Only a week or so before the Premier League kicks off and we are finally making our move in the transfer market. I really hope it’s a case of “hang on to your hats” as we bring in the type of players that we can be proud of. I’m sure we’ll lose another couple but they will be replaced. Good times!!

  4. I believe in MON and RANDY so if it takes another couple of years to build a team that will be up there year after year, then i am willing to wait, hell I remember waiting on deadly doug and some of his fair weather managers and it never happened as all they did was try and kill this great club of ours so for those people who want to sack MON because we not won the prem or got into the top four, just remember how far we have come.
On a more positive note we already got six points in the bag from the blue noses and at end of season they will be back off to the championship lol.

  6. Totally agree, but please be under no illusions that mon is going to spend money on the likes of Velosa and Sneider, just will not happen. If Delph signs expect no more midfielder signings! we need to be looking at players such as drenthe, van der vart nand sneider, but we will probably have to settle for the likes of campbell, distin and bently. Lets just keep our fingers crossed and we get a signing the fans can celebrate about

  8. We have lost Laursen and Barry our two biggest players, i think its only right MON buys two class signings to replace them.

  10. First – to the author- I beleive bannan at least HAS been out on loan, to Derby County, and enjoyed their first team very much. They were very impressed by him.

Secondly – Birdy – you have to accept that Villa will not be signing masses of high profile players. As you can see with Money City – the only way most stars will sign for a club like Villa – (out if the champions league for too many years) is for ridiculous wages- which is not the style of MON or RL. Do you really want Villa to be the new Manchelski?

  12. Settle for the likes of campbell, distin bentley?Fine by me they are experienced prem quality players to add to a top six team,It always makes me chuckle how some fans fiend over fancy “big money” foriegn names,Drenthe is a prime example,The guy has done jack shit and is actually no beter than shorey yet i know a lot of fans would get really excited over him.

Out of all of those named only sniejder is a level above what we already have,Wouldn`t mind van der varrt,But i have never watched him play and thought he was anything special.

  14. Too many fickle bastards out there don’t seem to remember the days when deadly doug was given us £4 million to spend all summer. Think some of our fickle fans (as David O’Leary once stated) really need to look at themselves.
Look at how far we’ve come we cried out for UEFA cup football now it is here & we want the Premier League. Catch a grip & get off O’Neills case!!!!

  16. Yeh I agree. Villa definitely needs a central defender! O’Neill is talking up Sneijder, so it seems like he may be looking for an attacking midfielder, which would be nice, but I think the defense needs to be strengethened first. Plus, I would prefer Van Der Vaart over Sneijder, but they are both good players.

Tell me what you're thinking...
