The Premiership is rarely an easy league to bet on, as last season showed. Few people expected Manchester United to face such little opposition on their way to another title, and this season is liable to be another tricky one to put bets on. It is fully expected that Manchester City will put up more of a fight this time around. Indeed they have replaced United as the bookies favourites to lift the title ñ and Chelsea are also considered serious competition by many. So which of the teams at the top end should you think about having a punt on?
As a huge football fan I naturally assume that all other huge football fans are huge Football Manager fans! Why wouldn’t you be? Ahead of the new season, a quite a way ahead I must admit, I am working on a new Player Profiles section of the site based around the on-screen stylings of the game. Read more
As an interesting afterthought I felt that it may be interesting to tot up the player ratings that I give out to the players following the match reports to see who I believe to be Villa’s top performers. In the new feature under the Statistics page I will be looking at the average ratigns of players over the entire campaign as well as the form and Man of the Match performances. This will culminate in a top and bottom 3 performer’s list for you to share your opinions on and will reveal the players that I have rated as the best the club has to offer in 2010/11!
I’ve decided to have a go at the whole psychic lark and update a post match prediction for each Villa game. My intention is to challenge you, the reader, to challenge me, the writer, in a forecast face off! Each week I will predicting the line-up, key man, goalscorer(s), minute of first goal and overall result and I want you to let me know your predictions too. I would like to stress that any line-up predictions are not necessarily my personal choices! A pre-match prediction category has been added so you can track just how poorly I have done over the course of the season! Happy Guessing.

A new era at Villa means a newly revitalized blog
Hello my dear Villains, my name is Martin and I have been handed the task of reviving this blog as the club beckons in a new dawn, post MON. I will be looking for moaners, groaners and gloaters to spark some serious and occasionally not so serious discussions, debates and banter all in the name of our beloved Aston Villa. This voyage will not work without you. The one who’s blood runs claret and blue!
I will be blogging regularly about the entire goings on at the club, be it the ups or downs, starting on the day of a 6-0 defeat to Newcastle may suggest that this is a down, but it doesn’t have to be! I want to know what you think about everything that’s happening at Villa Park. Your opinions are wanted and we’re all in this together guys so let’s keep it friendly, this is a safe place! Be you an optimist or a pessimist we want to hear from you. Think of this as your Villa haven. A place you can let all your praise or worries be known.
I look forward to gaining some loyal Villains to support our quest, Premier League 2010/11!
